Virgin Remy Hair Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Remy Hair

What is Virgin Remy Hair?

Virgin Hair is 100% natural and is unprocessed.  Virgin Hair is free from chemicals such as perm, silicons, relaxers, etc.   Remy Hair, is also known as Remi, or Temple Hair.  "Remy" means that the cuticles are aligned and intact, it is also collected from one donor.  Virgin Remy Hair has no damage to the cuticles.  This prohibits the hair from tangling and matting.  Virgin Remy Hair should last more than a year.

Where does Indian hair come from?

The hair comes from people who donate their hair in the name of prayer. In India, it is very common for people to sacrifice their hair in return for prayers that have been answered by God. The temples in India will cut the hair from the willing devotees, and then auction the hair off to distributors. The proceeds from the auctions will be returned back into the community in various charitable forms.

Why is Indian hair so special?

Indian hair is highly regarded in the hair industry because of its flexibility, durability, and texture. Indian hair is naturally thick and lustrous, so it gives best possible styling and installation options for extensions. The hair is also naturally dark, so it works great with most braiding and weaving applications for women of color.

What is Single Drawn Hair?

Every hair piece looks like a ponytail made of different lengths of hair. The very short hairs have been removed. For example: a hair piece of 16" to 19" inches of Remy quality and single drawn has hair lengths of 16", 17", 18" and 19".

What is Double Drawn Hair?

Every hair piece contains only hair of the same length. This makes this type of hair piece also the most expensive one as this procedure is done by hand, not by machine. For example: a hair piece of 20 inches of Remi quality and double drawn has hair lengths of 20" only. It contains no hair shorter than that.

What do the terms "bulk" and "wefted" mean?

Bulk hair is loose hair that is used for braiding and many other hair extention styles. Wefted hair is hair used for weaving. It is sewn or bonded (with hair glue) into a track ready for the weaving process.

What is the difference between Machine Weft and hand tied Weft?

Hand tied wefts are made by tying strands of hair around a strong weaving thread, this process is done by hand. Our hand tied wefts are much thinner than machine wefts because of the precision involved, and lay flat on the scalp. Machine wefts are made by sewing strands of hair together with a hair sewing machine.

What is the best way to cut a weft?

Hand tied wefts should never be cut from the top, this is a common mistake made by even experienced hair stylists. If it is cut, then you should seal it with a good glue like nail glue or fabric glue. There is no guarantee that it will not shed if it is cut. Also, one should never sew through top of the weft and it is recommended you sew around the weft. With machine wefts, you can cut where desired. We cannot stress how important this information is, the main reason for wefts shedding is because the weft is not cut properly.

What Are Hand Tied Wefts?

Hand tied wefts are done by hand and are much thinner then machine wefts. They will lay flat against your scalp to give you a more natural look and significantly reduce hair bumps caused by bulky wefts . Hand tied wefts come in one long track and the length of the track depends on the length of the hair. All of our wefts are reinforced to prevent shedding.

How Wide is the Weft in inches?

The width of the wefts depend on the length of the hair. The longer the length the shorter the width... so if you decide to go with longer hair and want to cover more of your head we would suggest 2 or possibly 3 packs of hair. For example, a 16" weft is around 9 feet long.

Can I color this hair?

Yes, this is 100% virgin human hair which is not processed in any way. So you can color the hair. Once virgin hair is treated in any way, it is no longer virgin. Generally it is advised to make any major color changes after having your extensions applied.

What is the difference between Indian hair and Chinese hair?

Indian hair varies in texture and color. The Indian straight hair is not bone straight like Chinese hair but instead has beautiful body wave to it.
